A prayer based on Titus 1:1-9 and Acts 20:28

Heavenly Father

We praise you for your deep love for the church

.Thank you Jesus,For shedding your blood, to redeem us.For dying, so that we can be part of your people.Spirit of the living God,You dwell in your people,You call people to lead and serve the church. Thank you that we are never alone.Thank you for leading your church into a secure and certain future. Lord God,As we come to choose elders for Moodiesburn Parish ChurchWe look to you - knowing that you are Lord of your church, and your Spirit shall call the right people to serve you as elders in this place.

May our elders,

Love your church, your people in this place, as you love the church.

As they pastor your people, may theyTend the lame, seek out the wandering, strengthen those who doubt,

Encourage those who are downhearted, fight with those who are overwhelmed

.

May the elders keep watch over one another,

Always seeking to grow in our knowledge of and passion for you.

Always on guard against the subtle tempations we face each day, and the errors that slip into our thinking.May their walk before you and before the world be blameless.Keep them faithful in marriage and parenting.May they react as your Son does at all times, showing his grace and truth.Keep them humble, ever seeking your face and resting in your grace.Cause our elders to s

erve with all their hearts,

Respond with compassion,

Lead with dilegence,And pray at all times.Through Jesus our Saviour name we pray,Amen
