Continue to live your life in Him

A prayer based on Colossians 2:6-23

Lord Jesus,

We look to you.   We have received you as Lord and we keep holding onto you.  You are our head, our life, our all.  In you we see God.  In you we ourselves have come to fulness.

Forgive us,

For the ways in which we have wondered from you.  For the many times we have thought we don't need you.  For the ways in which we seek wisdom, power, help and strength in things other than you.  Forgive us for not being thankful - you have given us everything, all we need and much more beside.  We are sorry for taking your good gifts for granted.

Enables us to continue to live our lives in Christ Jesus

May we be rooted and built up in Him.  Strengthen us in the faith.  Cause our hearts to overflow with thankfulness. Guard us from being drawn away from you.  May we always test the teaching we receive.  May we discern what is right and true.  Don't let us be deceived by teaching that sounds impressive yet is hollow.  Lead us always to the fulness we have in Christ. Make us confident of our identity in you.  May we never feel judged by others.  May we never condemn ourselves.  May we never condemn one another.  Help us to live the freedom which we have in you. Help us in the fight against sin.  We are sorry for trusting rules instead of looking to you.  Cause us to delight in you and the good gifts you give to us.

Deepen our roots in you.  Align us with you, the cornerstone.  strengthen our faith in you.  And fill our hearts with thankfulness.  So may we continue to live our lives in you.

We ask these our prayers in Jesus name - what other name do we have?

Amen.
