Forgive us Lord

A prayer based on Joshua 7:1-8:29

Lord God,We praise you because you are big enough for our questions,You are patient with our accusations,You are honest in all your dealings with us.We cannot hide from you.You know all that we do.You examine the motives and attitudes of our hearts.You know us who for we truly are.You see through the pretence.You see our sin.Thank you - for shining your light into our livesFor humbling us.For placing the mirror of your word before us.For not letting us to decieve ourselves.As you stop us in our tracks and show us what we are truly like.We cast ourselves on your mercy.We look to you for forgiveness.We rest in all that Jesus has done for us.But may we never rest in the daily battle against sin.May we look to you each morning,May we taste afresh of your love and grace - for each new day.May we be a community of people,Who are honest with ourselves and each other,Who do not shy away from the sinful mess we have made of our lives,But daily support, encourage and point each other to Jesus Christ.In our loving Saviours name we pray,Amen.
