A prayer based on Colossians 4:2-6.
Lord of all,
Thank you for the gift of prayer. Your ear is open to our cries. Your heart listens to our burdens. Your power is released as we pray to you.
We are sorry for not devoting ourselves to prayer. We start off well, but falter in a day or so. We see a need, we committ to prayer, and we soon forget. We are stubborn, refusing to see the way you answer, if it doesn't line up with what we desire. Forgive us for our sins. Give us eyes to see what we need to pray for. Help us to be alert to the devils strategies and pray against them. May we sense where your Spirit is moving and pray for your Kingdom to come. May we see how you have answered and say thank-you.
Lord of all,
Open a door for your word, into the community of Moodiesburn and the nation of Scotland. May your word, run and be glorified, as may see the mystery of Christ. May your people be confident in the gospel, and clearly proclaim who Jesus is and why he came. We pray especially for ministers - equip them, encourage then, make them confident. May they grow as preachers and evangelists. Help them to lead well, being an example to all they serve,
May we make the most of every opportunity. Help us all, wherever we are, and whoever we are with, to act wisely. May our words always be gracious. Season what we say with salt. May people see and savour Jesus Christ is all we do and say.
And so, may your kingdom come, and your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.
Amen
