Praying together

Our next question is really familiar - that makes it easy to learn, but no less valuable to ponder!

Q41. What is the Lords prayer?

A. Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.

Lots of has been written on this prayer over the years, so here is just a couple of points.

This is a timely prayer: We're in the middle of a global pandemic, measures have been put in place in our country which none of us has ever experienced before. It is a concerning time, with many people fearful. How good it is to remember that we pray to our heavenly father. He is great. And he loves us. He will provide everything we need today, and he will do the same tomorrow.

This is a family prayer: We use this prayer on our own, in our homes, at services in church. It is Jesus gift to his people. This prayer unites us with brothers and sisters around the world and down through history. But the best thing is, he prays it too. He prays with us. Together we pray to OUR Father.

When we pray, we pray together with God - Father, Son and Spirit. We pray to the Father, with the Son, and in the Spirit. What a privilege... let's keep on praying together with Him!
