A prayer based on Psalm 16
Lord God,
You are my safety, my refuge and my delight. There is no one better than you; no pleasure greater than knowing you. All the good things I have are gifts from your hands. Thank you, for the many blessing you give to me
Lord God,
I am sorry for those times when I have treated you as a crutch. Forgive me for crying out to you in tough times, and ignoring you when times are good. Forgive me for drifting from your word, your people and your way.
Spirit of the Living God
Fill me afresh. Cause me to delight in God and enjoy being with his people. May I not run after other gods. Bring my contentment in all that I have. Cause me to hunger for your word. May I mediate upon it, day and night - and so have you always before my eyes. As I fix my gaze on you, may my heart find rest and peace in whatever circumstances I am living through at this time. And when I come to die, keep my eyes fixed on you. Assure me, and all who know me of the hope of glory. Thank you for the sure and certain hope of resurrection from the dead. Keep me safe, until that day.
In Jesus, my risen Saviours name I pray,
Amen.
