A prayer based on Joshua 3:1 - 5:1.
Lord God,You do amazing things - rescuing your people from slavery. You do the impossible - stopping the Jordan river in its track. You lead your people - providing a way when all seemed lostSo we praise you.Living GodYou ask us to trust you.You call us to follow you.You want us to obey you.But we doubt, wonder and disobey. So forgive us.Loving GodYou know how forgetful we are.So you give us a memorial - a reminder of all that you have provided for us.Thank you for the celebration meal of communion.Thank you for the reminder of the rescue you have brought about for us.Thank you for the opportunity to reach out to you in faith, and taste afresh of your forgiveness.Thank you for how this meal proclaims Jesus, his greatness and love to all.May we see him; may we receieve him; may we always trust in him.And may we never forget the cost, or your greatness, holiness and power.May we be a people who fear you.Speaking God,We thank you for your word,For how we can pick it up at any time and read your will.May we enjoy listening to your voice.May we always keep you before our eyes - and so trust you with each new challenge we face. And may we obey, living our lives as you call us too.In Jesus, our Loving Saviours name we pray,AMEN
