This is our prayer

A prayer based on this morning's passage - Colossians 1:1-14

Father,

Thank you for calling us to be your holy people.  You set your love upon us, and brought us from darkness into light.  You have rescued us, redeemed us and forgiven us.  Thank you for the freedom,  life and love we know in your Son Jesus Christ.

Thank you for our brothers and sisters, for all who make up the church family in Moodiesburn.  We praise you for those who are examples to us in faith, love and hope.  We thank you for those who have been faithful ministers of Christ to us - enabling us to hear and understand your grace.  We rejoice in new people joining our church family, and are so thankful for those who have been a part of us for a long time.  Thank you for their faithfulness.

We thank you for our brothers and sisters in Chryston, praising you as your gospel is bearing fruit in that community.  Your gospel is powerful, we thank you that is is bearing fruit up and down this country and throughout the world.

Lord God,

You have called us to be faithful.  Your desire is for us to live a life worthy of being your children, pleasing you in every way.  Fill us with your Spirit, so that we can live for you.

Times are tough.  The enemy is strong and relentless in his attacks.  We get discouraged all too easily.  Strengthen us.  May we know your power - for every moment of the day, for every challange that we face.  May we be convinced that He who is in us, is greater than he that is in the world.

Cause us to hunger for you.  Increase our knowledge of who you are.  Grow our confidence in the power of the gospel.  May we know your will.  May we walk in your ways.

Loving God,

Keep us thankful.  May we joyfully praise you for all that you have done through Christ Jesus, and all that you are doing in us today.  Cause us to see you are work, in the lives of one another and so give thanks to you.

In your Son, and our Saviours name we pray,

Amen.
