Honest Questions, Living Faith

Have you thought the politicians are getting off too lightly? I could ask them a more probing question - get them to face up to the real issues.

Have you ever wanted to put the big questions to God?

When Joshua got the opportunity, he didn't hold back!

When the angel of the Lord appeared to Gideon, he said, “The Lord is with you, mighty warrior. ”

“Pardon me, my lord,” Gideon replied, “but if the Lord is with us, why has all this happened to us? Where are all his wonders that our ancestors told us about when they said, ‘Did not the Lord bring us up out of Egypt?’ But now the Lord has abandoned us and given us into the hand of Midian.”

The Lord turned to him and said, “Go in the strength you have and save Israel out of Midian’s hand. Am I not sending you?”

Joshua 6:12-14

Joshua lays all his questions before God. Through his tone he accuses God - you haven't really been with us. You're lying.

God is big enough for our questions, but he doesn't have to answer.

And here, he doesn't answer directly. He simply calls Joshua to living faith. He declares, I am with you. I am sending you. So go, complete the task I have called you do.

Are we bold enough to hear what God is saying, and so step out in faith?
