Share your burden

When you need to lift something heavy, it is great to have someone with you. Keep that image in mind as you listen to Jesus invitation.

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”

Matthew 11:28-30

Jesus invites the weary to come to him. And then he says, I will place my yoke on you. It seems strange - it seems like an extra burden, not a lifting of burdens.

What is going on?

Jesus is binding himself to us. He is going to shoulder our burdens. He will carry our greatest burdne - that of sin. And as we are bound togehter, he will take us to where he is - to heaven itself.

Are you willing to take his yoke?
