Jesus, be the centre

Often when we sing, we both declare a truth and express a longing.
Take the song Jesus, be the centre, as an example.
Jesus, be the centre Be my source, be my light Jesus
Jesus, be the centre Be my hope, be my song Jesus
Be the fire in my heart Be the wind in these sails Be the reason that I live Jesus, Jesus
Jesus, be my vision Be my path, be my guide Jesus
This clearly expresses a longing for Jesus to be the centre of our lives. That he is the one who directs and drives us. He is the one who empowers us and equips us. He is at the centre of all what we do and who we are. Yet, this morning, in Acts 2 we seen that Jesus is the centre. He is the one who all history flows to, and a new future flows out of. He is the one who is Lord of all - reigning from his throne in heaven. He is the anointed one, and the only source of our anointing and filling be the Spirit. He is the centre. How is this truth going to express itself in your life this week? How are you going to ensure that Jesus is at the centre of all that you do? In work and family, in rest and play. On social media and conversations on the bus. In your daily habits and routine. In the unexpected and new opportunities? How will you live the truth that Jesus is the centre? That he is Lord of all. Surely a start must be to pray in all things, with gratitude in your heart. Seek to do so this week.
