Tomorrow is Palm Sunday, King Jesus enters his city.
"The disciples went and did as Jesus had instructed them. They broughtthe donkey and the colt and placed their cloaks on them for Jesus to sit on.A very large crowd spread their cloaks on the road, while others cut branches from the trees and spread them on the road. The crowds that went ahead of him and those that followed shouted,'Hosanna to the Son of David!''Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord' 'Hosanna in the highest heaven!'When Jesus entered Jerusalem, the whole city was stirred and asked, 'Who is this?'"Matthew 21:6-10
This is a noisy scene - it is not a covert entry. King Jesus is not trying to slip in unnoticed. He is not in disguise. Actually, now, his identity is clearly proclaimed. He is the Son of David. He is coming in the name of the Lord. His actions here on earth, are reverberating in heaven - as angels gaze in wonder and their song of praise rises to God.
His mission is also proclaimed. Hosanna, is more that an word of praise - it's root meaning is 'Save!' In the crowds song of praise, is a cry to be saved.
Yet, in the midst of all the noise, some people still have not got who Jesus is. They ask 'Who is this?' It's a great question. One we should all ponder. This Easter much of the noise and activity has been stripped back - so it gives you that time to read, reflect, pray, search, ask and answer the question, 'Who is this?'
