This morning we seen the UNIQUE claim that Peter makes about Jesus, recorded in Acts 4:12.
Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved.
As we head out into another week, there are many ways in which this claim will be challenged. So here are a couple of things to remember.
It's not about 'my faith', but 'the Saviour'
Faith is personal. It is something which I have. But it is not really about me, it is about what I put my faith in. It is about what or who I trust.
This verse isn't offering to us something to believe, but a person who can save. One whom we can trust. The verse says there is only one person worth putting your faith in - because he is the ONLY one who can save. His name is Jesus. And he is our Saviour.
We can trust Jesus, because we are not waiting for him to do something to save us. He has already done it - through his death. And it really worked - because God raised him from the dead.
No-one else has done this. That is why, he is the only Saviour. The only one we should put our faith in.
It's not about knowing the right stuff, it's about a Saviour.
I am at risk of repeating myself - but I think we need to be clear. What is on offer here is a Saviour. A person. It is Jesus who saves.
We are not saved because we know the right things. There is no exam to pass. We don't need to know stuff, or have a hand up. We need a Saviour. His name is Jesus.
We must be saved
And so must all we meet this week - be brave, speak up, and offer the Saviour to someone this week. And when you think, I can't do that - remember you have the Holy Spirit!
