Sowing and reaping

What is God saying today? How do we read the signs of the times?
These are big questions, which we long to answer. I don't think we can give a definitive answer. Indeed it is simplistic to think that we can. God never does one thing. He is doing many things right now, we each have lessons to learn. So let's avoid the danger of simplistic answers.
And it is with that in mind we come to today's verse.
"The day of the Lord is nearfor all nations. As you have done, it will be done to you;your deeds will return upon your own head."Obadiah 15
Do you see the danger?
We are tempted to rush to judgement - to point the finger, to condemn others - as these difficult days, with disease rampant are surely the day of the Lord!
But, lets step back - and get some guiding principals, from this verse, which we discern in the whole scriptures.
Don't be deceived: There is a 'day of the Lord' It is the day when Jesus returns, and he shall judge all nations. Every person, including you and me will be judged by him. And that day is near.
Don't be deceived: We reap what we sow. If you plant potatoes, expect potatoes. Don't go looking for apples. So it is with our lives, what we do, what we sow into our lives, is what we shall reap. We will be judged on our actions, thoughts and character.
Lord, have mercy! Surely, knowing these two truths, our only response is to cry for mercy. I am sure, like me, you have sown good and bad. We can't stand on what we have done. My only hope, is mercy.
