We are bombarded with news, facts, images. We scroll past them quickly. We flick until something grabs our attention. We consume and move on. But there are some things which demand that we stop, gaze and wonder.
When they came back from the tomb, they told all these things to the Eleven and to all the others. It was Mary Magdalene, Joanna, Mary the mother of James, and the others with them who told this to the apostles. But they did not believe the women, because their words seemed to them like non-sense. Peter, however, got up and ran to the tomb. Bending over, he saw the strips of linen lying by themselves, and he went away, wondering to himself what had happened.Luke 24:9-12
The women where surprised. The others didn't believe them. Peter couldn't get his head around it. But what about us?
We aren't surprised - we have heard the story too often.
We recite our belief in song and creed.
We fail to wonder.
This Easter, we have been forced to slow down. So make sure you stop and gaze upon the risen Christ. And as you gaze, allow you mind to wonder afresh at the 'Easter story'. Worship our risen Saviour, Lord and King.
