The day we are waiting for

Our reading today is a massive declaration:

The seventh angel sounded his trumpet, and there were loud voices in heaven, which said:

"The kingdom of the world has become the kingdom of our Lord and his Messiah, and he will reign for ever and ever."

Revelation 11:15

This is the day we are all waiting for. The climax that all history is moving towards. The time when the war will be over and King Jesus unending reign of peace shall begin.

There is much in this declaration which is worth chewing over. At this time, when fear seems to have the upper hand, when the future seems bleak it is worth reminding ourselves that God wins the final battle. He has the victory.

We're not there yet, we still feel the pain of this world. We still know its brokenness. So we long for that day. We pray for that day. Lord, let your kingdom come.
