The mighty God

We've seen already how Jesus Kingdom is upside down. It's values turn the values of the world upside down. It's easy to say, but when you see what that means in practice, it is truly shocking!

Jesus looked around and said to his disciples, "How hard it is for the rich to enter the kingdom of God!"The disciples were amazed at his words. But Jesus said again, "Children, how hard it is to enter the kingdom of God! It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for someone who is rich to enter the kingdom of God."The disciples were even more amazed, and said to each other, "Who then can be saved?"Jesus looked at them and said, "With man this is impossible, but not with God; all things are possible with God."Mark 10:23-27

The disciples where shocked, as Jesus turned the values of the world on their head. Everyone wants rich, prominent, influential people on their side, as part of their kingdom. Doors just open for them. Not when it comes to God's kingdom.

You see, there is only one door into His kingdom. And as we seen yesterday, to go through that door, you have to value Jesus above everything else. You have to willingly give everything else up, to gain him. You leave it all behind to be part of his kingdom. And when you are rich, that is hard. Getting a camel through the eye of a needle is easier!

But lets face it, that is hard even when you aren't rich. We have this inbuilt pride that says, I am good enough, surely God will just let me in? No, he won't. But the amazing thing is, when you shed that pride, when you let everything go, and come to him with NOTHING, that is when he takes you in his MIGHTY arms, and brings you into his kingdom.

It might seem impossible - but God is mighty to save. Nothing is impossible with him.
