Time to let go

Jonah finally came to his senses. It happened as he was sitting in the belly of the great fish. And there in that dark, stinking place - he raised a cry to God.

God heard, and God saved.

When my life was ebbing away, I remembered you, Lord, and my prayer rose to you, to your holy temple. “Those who cling to worthless idols turn away from God’s love for them. But I, with shouts of grateful praise, will sacrifice to you. What I have vowed I will make good. I will say, ‘Salvation comes from the Lord.’”

And the Lord commanded the fish, and it vomited Jonah onto dry land.

Jonah 2:7-10

Jonah doesn't tell us what his idol is. But he does say - if we keep hanging onto our idols, we'll miss out on God's love.

If we keep hugging that weight - it will drag us down.

If we don't let go - we will perish.

So let go, cry out to God. Put your hands in his and allow him to raise you up.

As he does so, you will find a song of praise, rising in your heart. You too will declare 'Salvation comes from the Lord.'
