Who do you trust? What does that look like and mean for you day by day?
When they hurled their insults at him, he did not retaliate; when he suffered, he made no threats. Instead, he entrusted himself to him who judges justly. 'He himself bore our sins' in his body on the cross, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; 'by his wounds you have been healed.' For 'you were like sheep going astray,' but now you have returned to the Shepherd and Overseer of your souls.1 Peter 2:23-25
Jesus was silent. He did not defend himself. He knew that he did not need to defend himself. He trusted God, the just judge.
And he was right to trust him. God vindicate him. God worked through his sacrifice. It is by his wounds we have been healed, and we have been brought back to the one who is the Shepherd and Overseer of our souls.
Sheep trust shepherds. So we must trust Jesus. We trust him in the day by day struggles and fears. We trust the one who is our overseer to do what is right and best for us in the very detail of our lives.
What's the big picture? What is his aim? Peter tells us 'we might die to sins and live for righteousness.' We must trust him to always work this aim in our lives.
How is that going to look for you today?
